A Day in Tai O - Weekday Getaway

Summer holiday without a job is probably the dullest thing ever. Reckoned it's a good time for a city boy like me to have a getaway into the scenic nature. So Tai O it is.

It's actually not difficult to get to Tai O. We just rode an MTR to Tung Chung and took the bus 11, got off at the terminal stop; and we made it in like one and a half hour (start off at Lai King.)

Suppose a 40min bus ride warrants a  short nap. LOL

When we arrived, it was a really nice weather. A lot of local stores selling different kinds of specialty, it was a feast for the eye.

We've tried some roasted dry squid. Roasted with BBQ sauce, that squid snack is really a treat, for only HKD 10! (forgot to take photos of this delicious piece, not exactly the disciple of camera-eat-first huh.) It was also selling roasted dry mantis shrimp, pity we didn't try it too.

We strolled on deeper into the village, and passed by quite a few places where some scenes of the HK movie, 龍咁威, were taken. For example, the area outside of this temple.

This village is an old part of Hong Kong, where most people still worship all kinds of God; so you can find temples and worship spots everywhere.

Some people are still cooking with charcoal!

Speaking in defense of charcoal cooking, this old man cooked really good egg puffs with charcoal. Have to try it if you ever be to Tai O. He doesn't open store every day in the week though ( most likely open on Sat and Sun.)

Apparently he used to be Man-in-black, just recently retired to make egg puffs for Tai O residents and tourists.

And we ... eat on. We've tasted cool beancurd jelly with a beautiful scene beside us. Everyone should do it some time.

This a failed attempt of selfy. LOL
Much better.

Tai O Market, small but with style
When you need a sleep, you don't care where you are.
Some abandoned ruin.

Shaolin!
But heard that it was not a real shaolin temple, only for exhibition.

And now we can move onto the scenic stuffs. Tai O is really beautiful, even more secluded than Nam Sheng Wai. I'm sure either sunset or sunrise will be splendid there, the natural structure there can definitely give you a sense of getaway from the hectic city life. This place can absolutely make your day!

yeah, right. spread your arms and  embrace it.

What's the Einsten's quote again. I'm just a boy playing pebble etc etc.

funny story short: We were trying to get to a lookout tower, took a wrong path, ended up at the drainage facility.
Not bad scenery though.
Apparently Snow White wants a spouse. LOL
No Pain, No Gain. Stairssss leading to an vantage point.

I managed to take a photo of the airport with planes from afar using the telescope installed on the lookout tower! It was amazing!

Sunny said we must be able to get a glimpse of the rare Chinese White Dolphin if we hiked a long path. Hell right, there were Chinese White Dolphins, out of water even.
This little pond rounded up by the pebbles and stones and shells is just scenic and gives a serene feeling.

This is a funny lift, it's built on a slope, so it lifts with a slope.

This photo is a proper photography huh. May get a prize for this.

Also managed to capture a FLYING aeroplane using phone camera and that telescope! It feels marvelous being able to do that. A MUST TRY I'd say.
It's time to spread our wings to this beautiful day and perhaps even our dreams. (big words LOL)

An extra photograph I love. I just feel something special for this photograph. The lighting, the picture, and everything... as if it tells a story.
